Q&A with the Initiator and Submitter
Why bid?
"This is a historic opportunity for our next generation of leaders. When Rotary International withdrew Manila's selection for 2028, RI specifically said: Philippine Rotarians are encouraged to pursue a future convention bid. That opportunity came when RI opened the window for expressions of interest by August 31, 2026, for a future Rotary International Convention -- with the hope in 2033, 2034, 2035 or the next cycle. MNL 36 is our response to that opportunity without financial risks to Rotary International. If invited to bid, this initiative can become a powerful unifying project for Philippine Rotary. While some may question whether we are ready, my reply to them is simple:
Were we ready back then?"
" MNL36 is founded on the belief that bringing the Rotary International Convention to Manila with a venue that satisfies RI is a shared Philippine Rotary undertaking -- not the project of any one person, district, or group. Our strength lies in our ability to work together across all 10 Rotary districts, bringing every club, every voice, and every generation of Rotarians and Rotaractors into a common purpose."
Strategy and Concept
"We learn from the past. We move forward together. This time, taking a bottom-up approach. The campaign emphasizes for every club and individual Rotarians across the Philippines should be involved from the start. We call upon every club to name a representative to the HOC - Host Organizing Committee. Additionally, we envision our entire Philippine Rotary community -- Rotarians and Rotaractors alike as
host volunteers."
